Admissions and Award of Degree

The Department of Economics here at Uniuyo admits qualified students from all countries of the world in a four year and three year B.Sc. degree program. It also offers admission into Post Graduate Programmes such Masters and Doctorate degrees.

Four Year Programme for the B.Sc. (Hons) Degree Admission Requirements

A student wishing to enrol in the four year B.SC. programme in economics must in addition to satisfying the general requirement for the university and the faculty of social science; obtain at least credits in Economics and Mathematics at Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination or General Certificate of Education or their equivalents.

Requirements for the Award of a Degree in the Department to qualify for award of B.SC. (Hons.) degree of the Department of Economics, the student in a four year programme shall, in addition to any other regulations which may be issued by the university under the NUC directive from time to time, satisfy the following requirements:

(i) Complete an approved programme and earn a minimum of 130 units/credit hours; (To earn credit in a course, a grades not below E must be obtained).

(ii) Achieve grades not below E in the university required courses (namely GST) as well as an overall cumulative grade point average of at least 1.75;

(iii) Achieve grades not below E in faculty foundation courses (namely social science courses) and all the core mandatory and required departmental courses, including a Research Project;

(iv) Achieve a minimum of 107 credit hours in Economics courses; and (v) Meet all financial obligations to the university, and satisfy university requirement relating to good character/behavior.

Three Year Programme for the B.Sc (Hons) Degree Admission Requirements.

Students wishing to enrol in the three-year B.Sc programme in Economics must, in addition to satisfying the general direct entry admission requirements of the University and the Faculty of the Social Sciences; obtain at least a pass in Economic at 'A' level or its equivalent.

Requirements for the Award of Degree in the Department to qualify for the award of B.Sc (Hons) degree in the Department of Economics, student in the three-year programmes must satisfy the following requirements; (i) Complete an approved programme and earn a minimum of 100 units/credit hours;

(To earn credit in a course, a grades not below E must be achieved).

(ii) Achieve grade not below E in the university required courses (namely GST) as well as an overall cumulative grade point average of at least 1.75;

(iii) Achieve grade not below E in the faculty foundation courses (namely Social Science courses and all core, mandatory and required Departmental courses, including the Research Project;

(iv) Achieve a minimum of 75 credit hours in Economics courses; and

(v) Meet all financial obligations to the university and satisfy university requirements relating to good character/ behavior.
