PROGRAMME OFFERED WITH ADMISSION
REQUIREMENT
1. Bachelor
of Science B.Sc. Degree Programme in Anatomy (Duration Four(4) years) UME Entry
Requirements
Five credit passes at ordinary
level (SSCE , NECO, GCE) in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and
English Language obtained at not more than two sitting. THE DEPARTMENT DOES NOT
ADMIT STUDENTS FROM THE PRE-DEGREE PROGRAMME
Direct Entry Requirements
(a) Direct
entry candidates shall be required to have passed the Advanced Level General
Certificate of Education ('A' level GCE) examination or approved equivalent
examinations, with credit passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology,
plus a credit level pass in English language and Mathematics at 'O' level SSCE
or equivalent examination.
(b) Candidates
shall be required to fulfill the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board
requirements.
Direct entry candidates admitted
shall be required to take all GST courses that are not reflected in their
transcript at the time of admission, possibly in their first year of study (200
level).
2. Master
of Science M.Sc. Degree Programme in Anatomy Duration: Minimum of 3 semesters
and maximum of 5 semesters
Entry Requirements
This programme is open to
candidates with Bachelor's degree in Anatomy with first or second class honours
with CGPA of 3.00 and above in a 5 point scale from University of Uyo or any
other equivalent degree of other Universities recognized by the Senate of the
University of Uyo. Candidates with MBBS degree, Bachelor of Dental Surgery
(B.D.S) or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M) are also eligible.
3. Doctor of Philosophy PhD. Degree
Programme in Anatomy Duration: Minimum of 6 Semesters and maximum of 8
semesters
Entry Requirements
M.Sc. Degree in Anatomy with a
minimum of 60% or B Grade average in M.Sc course work from the University of
Uyo or any other approved University. In Addition to (1) above, candidates must
satisfy the O/L requirements of the University of Uyo, Five (5) credit passes
in O'Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics and must have
obtained at least a second class lower division degree with CGPA of at least
3.00 on a five point scale.
Preference will be given to any
staff of this department who satisfies the above requirements.

2.0 B. Sc PROGRAMME IN ANATOMY -
STRUCTURE/DURATION
The B.Sc. programme is designed for
a minimum duration of four academic sessions while the maximum period shall be
50% above the number of academic sessions. A student who spends one academic
session in excess of the approved minimum period of study is eligible for a
classification better than 2nd class Honours (Lower Division). Each of the
sessions is divided into two semesters.
All courses under the B.Sc.
programme are core courses which must be passed by the student who intends to
graduate with a degree in Anatomy. Students also undertake courses in relevant
disciplines such as Biochemistry, Physiology, Pharmacology and Community
Health.
