DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY
Admission Requirements:
Same as general Faculty requirements including credits in English Language and History at Senior Secondary School Certificate level or Equivalent.
General Regulations:

All students shall register for and pass all general studies courses and the total number of units taken along with the grades obtained in each course shall be recorded for the purpose of computing the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).
The weighed grade points of all courses taken shall be used for the determination of the class of degree.

The minimum number of course units for the award of degree shall be 120 and 90 for direct entry students.
The degree shall be awarded with honors provided a student obtained a Cumulative Grade Point Average that is not less than 1.5 and satisfied other minimum honors requirements.

Grades used for assessing a student’s performance are:
Letter Grade Grade Point Mark
A 5 70 and above
B 4 60-69
C 3 50-59
D 2 45-49
E 1 40-44

 IMPORTANT NOTICE TO STUDENTS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY UNIABUJA
STUDENTS SHOULD NOTE THAT:
Every grade obtained in a course at every sitting for examination counts towards the CGPA. A student, who passes a course marginally, could not retake the course with a view to increasing his CGPA.
All units taken by the student WHETHER PASSED OR FAILED will be used in the computation of his/her final year results.
To be in good standing, a student must maintain a cumulative grade-point (CGPA) of not less than 1.00 at the end of any session during his/her study in the university.
A student whose CGPA is below 1.00 at the end of a particular session of study goes on probation.
A student could be required to withdraw from the university if he/she maintains a CGPA that is below 1.00 for four consecutive semesters (2 sessions).
The NUC Minimum Academic Standards stipulated that the minimum number of credits for the award of a degree is 120 for the 4-year and 90 for the 3-year programme and that student, must register and pass all the compulsory courses specified by the department.

Uniabuja Examination Regulations.
Candidates: Must be at the examination venue 10 minutes before their examination is due to begin.
Must sit at the desks with numbers corresponding to those on their examination cards and must not move these desks.
Candidates are required to sign the attendance slip on their desk.
May be admitted to the examination room up to 30 minutes after the start of the examination but shall not be allowed extra time.
Candidate may be allowed to leave the examination after the first 60 minutes but before the last 15 minutes of the examination. However, such a candidate shall not be re-admitted unless through the period of his absence he has been continually under the supervision of an invigilator or an Examination Attendant.
Are required to bring their examination cards to each examination and display it on their desk.
Shall not communicate with any other candidate or make any noise or cause disturbance during an examination.
Candidate may attract the attention of the invigilator by raising their hands. Absolute silence must be maintained.
Must not directly or indirectly assist any other candidate or permit him/her to copy from or use his/her papers
Must not directly or indirectly accept assistance from any other candidate or use his papers.
Shall not take any book, paper document or unauthorized aid into candidate or use his papers.
Shall write their examination number at the top of the cover of every answer book and every separate sheet of paper and under no circumstances should they write their names.
Must do all rough work in their answer books or in supplementary answer sheets and cross out neatly. Use of scrap paper is prohibited.
Shall not remove from the examination room or mutilate any paper or other materials supplied.
Candidates shall stop writing when instructed to do so.
Candidate Shall not bring into the examination cell phones.
NOTE: ANY STUDENT THAT VIOLATES ANY OF THE ABOVE RULES IS DEEMED TO HAVE COMMITTED EXAMINATION MISCONDUCT AND SHALL BE EXPELLED FROM THE UNIVERSITY.
