otherwise known as the confirmed accounts of the participants for one month, making it impossible for them to request for money payments, otherwise known as getting help (GP) after haven waited or are still waiting for the elapse of one month to do so.
EFCC The commission took to its twitter handle to equally remind Nigerian that they were warned severally not to patronize the ponzi scheme or any other wonder banks since the returns often promised by such schemes are always too good to be relied upon. Recall that all members of the ponzi scheme woke up with the shock message displayed on their screens as soon as they logged into their accounts stating that access to Getting Help had been frozen for one month. Giving reasons for freezing the Mavros, the scheme said it is experiencing heavy workload and want to deal with the attacks coming from the country’s mass media. It also said it wants to prevent hitches in the coming new year hence, the freezing of the access to requesting for payments even when such person is due for payment. However, the decision sent great panic and confusion to its members across the country as majority of them already nurse the feelings that the scheme may never come back to normal again.
Some of them, as they all have nobody to complain to, however, took to the social media to engage the anti-graft agency, asking why EFCC did not stop the scheme before the decision that has caused panic and confusion in the country. Sergey Mavrodi of inventor MMM A Nigerian believed to be one of the scheme’s member and who uses the handle, @Lolamide_Boo, asked thus, “Where the hell was @officialEFCC ?? Isn’t it your job to stop crap like this?” In response, EFCC said, “You mean amongst the plethora of venality we fight daily? Ponzi schemes aren’t sustainable.
There were a number of warnings. #DontDoIt” “If it looks or sounds too good to be true, it almost always is. Do NOT patronize wonder banks. Protect yourself. #DontDoIt.” To another who twitted, “Even ur people, their spouses or sibs participated in it,” EFCC replied, “Brav … no wait … MAVRO to them.” The commission advised Nigerians to respect their hard-earned money by staying away from the ponzi scheme. “Respect your hard work and be content. Please stay away from quick return schemes. Please.”
