BREAKING: Boko Haram kills ANOTHER top Army commander Akinyemi Akinrujomu
Boko Haram insurgents
have killed yet another top Nigerian Army commander B.U. Umar, Premium Times
reports. Army sources said the Lieutenant Colonel and commanding officer of 114
TF battalion of the Nigerian Army was ambushed on Monday, November 14 morning
and killed between Bita and Piridang.
“His vehicle stepped on
an improvised explosive device, but he was not hurt,” a source told PREMIUM
TIMES. “He came out to assess the damage on the vehicle and Boko Haram opened

soldiers were said to be on their way to Yola in Adamawa state from Bita in
Borno when they were ambushed. Premium Times says the full casualty scale from
the attack is not yet clear.

Umar recently took over
the command of the 114 battalion just about three weeks ago. The Army has
however denied knowledge of the occurrence through its spokesperson Sani Usman,
who said he was unaware of Lt. Col. Umar’s death. Meanwhile, the Defence
Headquarters has dismissed reports that ransom was paid for the release of the
21 Chibok girls freed by the Boko Haram.
The defence spokesperson Rabe
Abubakar, reacting to reports alleging that ransom was paid by the government
in exchange for the recently released of 21 of the abducted Chibok girls,
described the story as unsubstantiated.
